FAQs

What is the BullyBillows 1.4m Combat® Lead?

The 1.4m Combat® Lead is the slightly longer sibling of the iconic Combat® Lead, giving you 20cm more length for a more relaxed arm position and a little more natural movement for your dog on a loose-lead walk. If you're on the taller side and find the 1.2m pulls your arm down at an awkward angle, this may be a better fit. Same bulletproof build, same hardware, same anti-tangle construction, just a bit more breathing room.

What's the difference between the 1.2m and 1.4m Combat® Lead?

Twenty centimetres. Which sounds minor but can make a massive difference. The extra length means a more natural arm swing and a slightly more relaxed stride for your dog. The 1.2m is ideal for maximum close control, brilliant in busy streets or with dogs who are still mastering the concept of not towing you down the pavement. The 1.4m suits dogs who've got their walk manners sorted and just want a bit more freedom to move naturally.

What breeds is the 1.4m Combat® Lead suitable for?

It's a great fit for medium to large breeds like Labradors, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Staffies - particularly those who've moved past the early stages of loose-lead training and can be trusted not to use those extra 20cm as an invitation to misbehave. For very strong or reactive large breeds (XL Bullies, Rottweilers, Cane Corsos), the 1.2m gives a shorter, more secure hold when things get unpredictable.

How do I clean the BullyBillows combat lead, and can it go in the washing machine?

Keep it out of the washing machine - the tumbling and detergent do the stitching and hardware no favours over time. A damp cloth handles most day-to-day muck, and for a proper refresh, hand wash in cool water with a mild soap, working over the handle and clip where grime tends to collect. Let it air dry fully before its next outing; never leave it on a radiator or in direct heat, as this can affect the coating and stitching over time. If you want a genuinely wipe-and-go option with zero babying required, our Billowthane® waterproof leads are built for exactly that.

What does "anti-tangle" mean and how does the swivel mechanism work?

It means your lead stays a lead, not a knot you're wrestling with every time your dog does a lap around a lamppost. The clip on our 1.4m Combat® lead rotates freely at the connection point, so as your dog spins, circles, or does their usual pre-walk chaos, the lead swivels with them instead of twisting up on itself. It's the same custom clip fitted across the Combat® range, tested to withstand serious pressure and built to only release when a human presses both levers, so there's no accidental pop-open mid-walk.
