Ladder Leashes

A ladder lead has multiple handles running along its length, like the rungs of a ladder, giving you different grip points at a moment's notice. Need to bring your dog in close at a road crossing? Slide up a handle. Want to give them more freedom to sniff in the park? Drop back. No fumbling, no re-gripping mid-stride, no awkward lead-wrapping around your wrist. BullyBillows ladder leads are built from the same heavy-duty webbing as the Combat® range, with reinforced stitching at every handle point to take whatever your dog throws at them.

Yes they’re perfect for this. The multiple handles mean you can instantly shorten your grip when your dog lunges forward, regaining control without a battle. With a standard lead, you've got one option: hold on. With a ladder lead, you can adapt on the fly. No wrapping the lead around your hand (which causes rope burn and reduces your actual control), no scrambling for grip. BullyBillows ladder leads use reinforced clips and stitching that don't give out under sudden load.

A regular lead has one handle, one clip, one fixed option. It does the job, but it's not built for the reality of walking a dog with opinions about pace. A ladder lead adds multiple handle points along the length so you can drop back, shorten up, or position across your body without stopping or readjusting. For owners walking powerful breeds, the difference between a stressful walk and a controlled one is often just having the right grip, in the right place, at the right moment.

Start with your hand in the rearmost handle for maximum length and comfortable, loose-lead walking. As you approach a road crossing, another dog, or anything likely to ignite your dog's inner chaos, slide your grip forward to the next handle. For tight spots like busy roads, narrow pavements, cyclists appearing from nowhere, take the handle closest to the clip. The transition should be smooth which is why BullyBillows ladder leads use flat, snag-resistant webbing so handles don't bunch or catch when you need to move fast.

Whenever your walk requires variable control. Urban routes with road crossings, other dogs, bikes, and unexpected chaos followed by quieter park sections where you can give your dog more freedom - a ladder lead handles both without you having to think about it. It's also a smart upgrade for anyone walking powerful breeds who need an instant, reliable grip response when things kick off.
