For a breed as independent and reactive as the Shiba Inu, a harness is one of the most important tools in your kit. Shibas are notorious for their dramatic responses to handling they don't like - the famous Shiba scream is a real thing - so introducing a harness gradually and positively makes all the difference.

Look for a harness with multiple secure attachment points and absolutely no slipping potential. Shibas are agile and flexible, and a harness that isn't properly fitted can be escaped with surprising ease. A top handle is useful for close control in reactive situations, and neoprene padded panels keep things comfortable enough that your Shiba will actually tolerate wearing it.

Walking a Shiba Inu requires a particular kind of calm confidence - and a lead that supports that. This is a breed with strong prey drive, selective recall, and a flair for the dramatic when they encounter something they're not happy about. Your lead needs to give you quiet, consistent control.

For everyday walks, a well-made lead with a solid clip and comfortable handle, such as the combat or training lead keeps you connected without any unnecessary bulk. A traffic handle positioned higher up the lead is useful for those moments when you need your Shiba close quickly.

For recall training - which with a Shiba is an ongoing project rather than a completed one - a long line is essential. Off-lead freedom with this breed needs to be earned extremely carefully. Our leads are built to handle strong, independent breeds with the control and confidence they need.
